I am delighted to welcome you to the International Dance Federation and our official website. Many of you will have already attended our events and are familiar with our activity; for some of you it will be your first visit and I hope you will find it interesting and rewarding. Whether you are a dancer, a teacher, a choreographer, an adjudicator, a national representative or just a visitor I would like you to feel a part of the IDF family.
I hope you will find it useful to explore our website and find out about the breadth of the IDF’s international activity and the diverse opportunities available to all our members.
I am proud of all our projects and delighted that the IDF is constantly growing and creating new opportunities. Among the numerous events that have taken place last season I’d like to specially mention the great success of the 9th World Championship in Modern Dance Sport in Castiglioncello, Italy in May 2011. Never before so many excellent dancers from so many countries came over to participate in our event. An extraordinary atmosphere and the outstanding level of presentations will be well remembered.
The success of the 1st World Championship in Dance is the next one to be mentioned. I couldn’t have dreamt about more distinctive personalities to participate in our event. Extremely talented young people, the most remarkable names in the world of classical and contemporary dance as the adjudicators and the top world class dancers performing during the Grand Final, including Giuseppe Picone, Bojana Nenandovic Otrin, Antonella Albano and Maurizio Licitra from the Teatro alla Scala in Milan as well as Antonio Minini and Lorena Calabro from the Pescara Dance Festival.
I’m also incredibly proud of the success of the Disabled Dance Festival. It was our first massive stepping stone on the way towards breaking barriers and promoting inclusion. The talented dancers once again have demonstrated to all of us that it is all about their ability and passion.
I’d like to use this opportunity to thank everyone who participated in our events during the last sporting season and has contributed to their success. I am incredibly proud to be a part of such a remarkable federation and to work with so many enthusiastic and dedicated people.
Thank you for being a part of the IDF. Well done for your commitment and contribution so far. Let’s keep up a good work to make sure the development of our federation carries on and more and more dancers enjoy and share with us their passion and excitement for dance.
I’m looking forward to seeing you all in our events.
