One of the most renowned dance photographers captures the IDF World Championships 2011!

One of the most renowned Italian dance photographers has come to Castiglioncello to capture the best moments of the week-long celebration of dance.

Born in Livorno, Italy Paolo Bonciani started his career in 1970. Over the years he has worked for the most important Italian newspapers and magazines such as Panorama, Repubblica, L’Espresso, Epoca, Danza e Danza etc. He has photographed the most crucial moments in the Italian history as well as the most prestigious sport and social events.

However, it was his passion towards dance and his unique ability to capture both the beauty of movement as well as the beauty of dancers that have placed him right at the top of the list of the best Italian photographers. His work has been widely recognised and Bonciani has received numerous awards and prizes. The most prestigious one has been ‘The Gold Medal of the Italian Republic President’ awarded for his work and achievements in dance photography. Paolo Bonciani’s photos have been on display in exhibitions all over Italy as well as in New York, Brussels, Cologne, Paris, Reus, Bucharest, Moscow and Barcelona.

Having visited the IDF World Championship in Castiglioncello the photographer fell in love with dance sport and is willing to continue his involvement with our Federation. ‘I found the competitions extremely interesting and well organised (...); this beautiful event has brought to Castiglioncello a real excitement, enthusiasm and a blow of fresh air’. The IDF has been granted permission to display Mr Bonciani’s photos on its official website. Both the IDF and the photographer are interested in further co-operation and further promotion of the beauty of dance, sport and art.
