Four incredible days of IDF World Championship 2017 in Pecs

Between 31st May and 4th June 2017 the Hungarian town Pecs has become the dance capital of the world. For the 15th time in history International Dance Federation invited world most talented dancers to come together, show off their amazing skills and battle to win the titles of Dance World Champions 2017. As each year the competition commenced with an impressive Opening Ceremony on Wednesday 31st May which saw representatives and flags of all participating countries as well as all the judges and officials join together on stage to show unity, solidarity and friendship. The evening was also a wonderful display of the local talent and included breathtaking performances from the Hungarian groups and dancers.

Held over four days and across three separate stages the championships welcomed nearly 1700 dancers from 16 countries. The event, staged in a fabulous Pecs Expo Center provided hours of quality sport and entertainment with disciplines ranging from funk and waacking through Dance Show with fabulous presentations of ballet, modern and contemporary dance, to disco, Caribbean dances, packed with acrobatics Fit-Kid and many more. The standard was exceptional.

 IDF have once again prepared a special treat for the street dance lovers - hip-hop, house and break dance battles which took place on Saturday 3rd June with international stars on the judging panel, including Nobru Xstyle from Brasil, Marco Mile from Italy and Viktor Ban from Hungary. All with the tunes by DJ Acid.

Competitors took home beautiful trophies with the overall winner of the medal standings being Ukraine, followed by Hungary as runners-up and Poland in third place.

Special thanks go to the organisers – Hungarian Dance Federation of IDF with its President and IDF new General Secretary Mrs Katalin Kovacs as well as to all the staff, judges, volunteers, dancers, teachers, parents, guests and everyone who contributed to the success of this championship.

The memories of the event will long live in everyone’s memory but the dancers and coaches are already thinking about the upcoming season and the 16th World Championship in Pula in Croatia in May 2018.
