Thank you Bressanone - Brixen! Massive success of the Dance World Championship 2016!

After months of preparations Bressanone – Brixen has finally welcomed world top dancers. On 25th May 2016 over 1200 dancers from 18 countries came to this delightful town in South Tyrol to show off their skills and battle for the Dance World Champion titles.
The event commenced with a spectacular parade through the streets of Bressanone led by a local band and loudly applauded by vast audience of both locals and tourists. The Opening Ceremony was as colourful as shades of all the flags of the participating nations proudly carried by local children wearing typical South Tyrolean costumes. Warm welcome by the Mayor and officials of Bressanone as well as the IDF President provided a fantastic start to the four competition days.
The championship itself held in the Bressanone sports complex started on 26th May. Three parallel run stages provided unforgettable experience and memories for the public who could admire a variety of styles ranging from hip-hop, house or popping through disco, dance show, musical and tap to Caribbean and folk dances and many more.It was great to see extremely high level of performances through across all age ranges, from young minis all the way to adults. An abundance of talent, artistry, emotions and creativity combined with long hours of hard work and effort put into making sure that each presentation is exceptional was admirable.
Achievements of many teams were spectacular so the overall medal table winner is yet to be confirmed but what is clear is that all who took part in this year’s World Championships have left with memories of a great event.
IDF would like to congratulate all the dancers for taking part in this year’s World Championship as well as thank all the teachers, parents, judges, staff volunteers and everyone else who contributed to the success of this event. Special thank you goes to Luana Poliziani and Roberto Gabos for their involvement in planning, preparation and delivery of the event as well as to the Mayor Peter Brunner, the Council and the Tourist Association of Bressanone – Brixen for their support and hospitality.
Thank you all for being part of such a wonderful event. See you at the IDF European Championship in Brno, Czech Republic in autumn 2016 and at the next IDF World Championship in Hungary in 2017.
